Tommy and Bobby on Christmas morning
Me: Do you see the ornaments?
Mom: The lollipops?
Mom: I probably still have them in the basement.
Me: I haven't seen them.
Mom: Well, maybe I don't. I do have some plastic crates with some old ornaments, maybe not lollipops. I noticed the tree now looks much more homey than modern, like in the past. I guess it was a reflection on how I changed. You know, this is more of a children's tree than an adult's tree. Today, my tree is a bit of a mish-mosh.
Me: I just wanted to mention the ornaments because those were the ones I grew up with. They had a lapsed '60s style to them, kinda both dowdy and gawdy all at once, that was already out of place when I was a kid in the mid-Seventies.
Mom: Yeah. I used to get them at garden centers, mostly. They used to have ornaments that weren't glitzy like the stores did.
